Enitan Kehinde, the General Manager and Lead Consultant of BHM UK, recently concluded an impactful university tour, leaving an indelible mark on aspiring Public Relations (PR) professionals at three prestigious institutions: Sheffield Hallam University, University of Gloucestershire, and Westminster University. The tour aimed to provide invaluable insights into the dynamic world of PR, sharing lessons, experiences, and global perspectives with Masters in Public Relations students.
In a series of compelling talks, Enitan Kehinde passionately delved into various facets of the PR landscape, bringing to life her extensive industry experience. Covering a wide range of topics, including the intricacies of PR practice, personal anecdotes from her career journey, and the nuances of navigating the PR landscape in different parts of the world, Enitan provided students with a rare and enriching glimpse into the world of strategic communication.
Central to Enitan Kehinde’s discourse was the emphasis on adaptability and strategic thinking in the ever-evolving field of PR. “In PR, success is often found in the ability to navigate uncertainty and turn challenges into opportunities,” she shared, drawing on her own experiences to underscore the importance of resilience and a passion for storytelling in achieving success in PR.
Reflecting on her professional journey, Enitan Kehinde shared insights into pivotal moments that shaped her career. “Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. My experiences have taught me that resilience and a passion for storytelling are the driving forces behind a successful PR career,” she affirmed, leaving an indelible impression on the audience.
Enitan who in recent years has been recognised by industry regulators and thought leaders across the world for achieving significant feats with the team at BHM in building people, platforms, reports, resources and initiatives like World PR Day, the BHM Guide to Public Relations and the Nigeria PR Report now Africa PR & Communications report among others spoke on the importance of upskilling new industry entrants saying, “With our work at BHM, the goal is to not only educate and develop new practitioners, young consultants and leaders but also shape the future of the global PR and communications industry and I’m grateful for the opportunity to do so at the University of Westminster.”
Enitan also provided invaluable guidance for aspiring PR professionals, emphasising the building of a strong foundation in communication skills, staying curious, and the transformative power of networking. “PR is about building relationships and telling compelling stories,” she noted, encapsulating the essence of the profession.
The global context of PR emerged as a key theme in Enitan Kehinde’s talks. She shed light on the intricacies of practising PR on a global scale, stressing the importance of understanding cultural nuances. “Global PR is about creating campaigns that resonate across borders while respecting the diversity of audiences,” she remarked, broadening the horizons of the students in attendance.
Having led the successful World PR Day project for three consecutive years, Enitan shared that the project is the perfect case study to help the students understand the nuances of public relations across regions. The project has grown from 3,500 consultants across 25 cities in 15 countries in 2021 when it first started to 11,200 participants across 63 countries in 6 continents in 2023.
